SQC (THE SINGAPORE QUALITY CLASS)
GSMB is admitted in the SINGAPORE QUALITY CLASS (SQC)
in 1999 - a tribute to the "Army and the Nation".
It is a declaration of the arrival of
an important milestone in the journey of an Army Logistics Unit towards
operational readiness and continuously improving support services. With this
achievement, General Support Maintenance Base (GSMB) has become the first
operational Army Unit to be accorded this status, joining the ranks of elite
organizations in both the private and public sectors.
The SQC framework adopted by GSMB is
essentially twin focused, i.e. Customer Focus and Mission Focus.
Being Customer Focused means that GSMB
places an immense emphasis on the permeation of the Service Excellence Culture
to all our soldiers. They are encouraged to cultivate the habit of continuous
improvement and perform process re-engineering in their respective work areas.
These activities translate to shorter maintenance Turn Around Time (TAT), Mean
Time To Repair (MTTR) and Zero Rejection for all equipment serviced, to enhance
supported units' equipment serviceability.
Being Mission Focused sets the
direction for GSMB to continually enhance the training of our soldiers in
operations and vocational skills, promote the development of human resources and
inculcate the right values system, in peacetime and wartime. This leads to
better trained and more motivated staff, which enhances GSMB's operational
readiness as a logistics unit.
