GSMB Organizational Overview

The Battalion HQ provides broad-base command and control, guidance and direction over all operations and matters concerning the battalion, and through :

Quality Assuarance Branch ( QA) to gain an insight into the various companies’ operations, quality systems and identify improvements required. This task is done by the QA Section. As for the Stocktaking Team, it’s main task is to check on all Technical Store management and accounting procedures.
   
S1 Branch deal with and co-ordinate all staffing, training, courses, manpower administration and documentation matters in the battalion.
   
S3 Branch plan, organise, execute and monitor all Operational and Training activities in the battalion. Maintenance Planning and Control Centre (MP & C) of S3 Branch, centrally plan, organise, monitor, co-ordinate and control all maintenance activities in the companies and to centrally deal with external agencies.
   
S4 Branch provides and administers all logistics support to the companies and other units which are located within Ayer Rajah Camp and Gloucester Camp.

  1. To perform preventive maintenance and corrective mainenance up to Intermediate Level on the following equipment:-
    1. Combat Engineer Vehicle ( CEV)
    2. Armoured vehicle Launched Bridge ( AVLB)
    3. Combat Engineer Tractor ( CET)
    4. SM1 Launched Bridge (SLB)
    5. M113 APC
    6. Bridge for AVLB
    7. Bridge For SLB
    8. Trackwidth Mineplough
       
  2. To perform repairs of selected mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical components.
   
3GSMC
  1. Provide Preventive Maintenance (50 hrs & 100 hrs) and Corrective Maintenance (Unit & DS) for all types of Armour Vehicles and Turret System for SM1, Bionix, AMX-10, M113 and BV206.
  2. Provide Corrective Maintenance (DS) for all types of Armour Vehicles in HQ 4 SAB, 42 SAR, 46 SAR and some training Units and Turret System for SM1, Bionix, AMX-10, M113 and BV206.
  3. Provide on site repairs and recovery services to ATC, SOA and other Units training and exercises
  4. Conduct Maintenance Vocation Training for NSmen attending their ICT in ATC & 3 DSMB.
  5. Repair and service battery.
 
EMC The role and functions of the Tactical Communication Platoon are as follows:
  1. To provide Preventive Maintenance (PM) for all VHF communication equipment and Radar Equipment held by units according to the prescribed schedule.
  2. To provide Corrective Maintenance (CM) for all VHF communication equipment and their accessories and Radar Equipment and related accessories on an ad-hoc basis up to 'Ops' (DS) level.
  3. To upgrade all VHF communication equipment and Radar Equipment for all exercises based on the plan and instruction from HQ Maintenance and Engineering Support.
